It's A Bird, It's A Plane, No It's A Flying Pen!s

Pro-Kremlin activists take aim at Kasparov speech
Flying pen!s disrupts Russian political rally

DUBAI (AlArabiya.net)

An unusual flying object disrupted an anti-government rally held by Russian chess champion turned Kremlin critic, Garry Kasparov, press reports said Thursday.

Kasparov's plea for unity against Vladimir Putin – being delivered to a group of 500 Kremlin critics in Moscow – was interrupted when a remote-controlled flying pen!s flew through the room.

The device - which appeared to be a modified twin-rotor toy helicopter - caused an immediate commotion, UK daily the Metro reported.

A video taken at Wednesday's event shows the chopper briefly evading capture before a security guard leaps from the stage and swats it down.

According to the Moscow Times website, the prank was staged by "a couple of pro-Kremlin Young Russia activists" who had launched a "plastic phallus on propellers".

"I think we have to be thankful for the opposition's demonstration of the level of discourse we need to anticipate," said Mr. Kasparov after the attack, according to Canada's National Post newspaper.

"Also, apparently most of their arguments are located beneath the belt," he added.

Kasparov -- who was famously beaten at his own game by IBM's Deep Blue more than a decade ago -- was arrested and jailed by Russian police for his activism last year.

Nude Flight Canceled.

They were probably worried they could not get the seats clean in time for the return fight. Skid marks are just for runways anymore.

German nudist flights scrapped over 'moral' qualms

Published: 22 May 08 15:57 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.de/12031/

Despite being fully booked by naturists wanting to take off and strip off, a German travel company said on Thursday it has decided to scrap a special nude flight that had been scheduled for this summer.

    * German nudist flight could be grounded (6 Apr 08)

The July 5 flight was due to be the first of many and was aimed at east Germans nostalgic for the naturism that was authorized and extremely popular under communist rule.

But OssiUrlaub.de, the firm organizing the service to a picturesque Baltic Sea island, said it has had second thoughts after "moral objections" in the media and from visitors to its Internet portal, a spokesman said.

The 50 people with tickets would have boarded the flight in the eastern city of Erfurt fully clothed, but once on the plane would have been free to undress and enjoy the rest of the journey as nature intended.

They will now receive a full refund as well as a voucher for other products offered by the company, whose core business caters to holidaymakers who keep their clothes on, it stressed.

Coming A To Rest Room Near You In Colorado. "All 'public accommodations,' including restrooms, would be opened to men, women, bisexuals, transsexuals and transgendered individuals."

bathroom
Now remember, it's only here in the RockyMountain state for now. But, if they get away with it here all kinds of interesting people may be sharing the rest room, with you, in yours state as well. More importantly they will be in there with your kids. Here is the pull quote.

"...sexual predators can be expected to use this law as "cover" as they search for their next victims — in any public bathroom they come across.

This is what you get from the left in this country. To heck with our kids safety, they have there immoral agenda to ram down the throats of us narrow minded people here in fly over country. Let’s not give the sexual predators another way to get at your kids. Contact that idiot Ritter and let’s stop this thing.

Here is the story from CitizenLink.

by Jennifer Mesko, managing editor

All 'public accommodations,' including restrooms, would be opened to men, women, bisexuals, transsexuals and transgendered individuals.

The next time you visit Colorado, you may run into members of the opposite sex when you use a public restroom.

Under a bill sitting on Gov. Bill Ritter's desk, all "public accommodations" must be open to men, women, bisexuals, transsexuals and "transgendered" individuals.

Senate Bill 200 adds religion and sexual orientation to state nondiscrimination statutes. Supporters claim the bill will prevent discrimination; in reality, the bill endangers religious freedom by opening the door for the state to punish any person or organization — including small and home-based businesses — that refuses, for religious or other moral reasons, to offer or sell goods or services to homosexuals, bisexuals, 'transgendered' and transsexual individuals.

Focus on the Family Action began airing radio ads today to inform Coloradans about this over-reaching bill.

SB 200 would apply to all "public accommodations" in Colorado — including gender-specific public restrooms in shopping malls, movie theaters and churches, and public locker rooms in athletic facilities, which would suddenly be required to permit equal access to men, women and cross-dressers. Churches, mosques and synagogues would be exempt.

"With SB 200, we no longer have two 'sexes,' " said Bruce Hausknecht, judicial analyst for Focus on the Family Action. "We enter a brave new world with a myriad of 'sexual orientations.' This bill, unfortunately, is in keeping with a national effort by 'transgender' advocacy organizations to accomplish an open-bathroom policy."

Hausknecht said sexual predators can be expected to use this law as "cover" as they search for their next victims — in any public bathroom they come across.

"SB 200 threatens public safety and tramples religious freedoms," he said. "This bill needs to be vetoed and sent back to the Legislature with instructions to come back next session with something that all Coloradans can be proud of."

TAKE ACTION
If you live in Colorado, please call and e-mail Gov. Bill Ritter today and ask him to veto SB 200. On the e-mail form, select "Share Your Opinion" from the drop-down menu. If you live outside Colorado, you can stay up to date on legislation in your state through your Family Policy Council.

"The Palestinians' time is running out"

Here is a great one from www.haaretz.com. Long but good.

By Bradley Burston. For my Palestinian friends, with sadness:

I understand why you long ago came to believe that time was on your side. I understand the many factors, demographic, cultural, historic, geo-political, which have served to reinforce that belief, the strong conviction that Palestinian statehood was inevitable, inalienable - in every sense, a matter of time.

I understand why you have come to believe that the state of Israel is merely the latest in a long series of fleeting colonial episodes, that its roots are elsewhere, its strength is illusory, its endurance eroded, its spirit broken, its future dim. I understand that you believe you can wait these people out, wear them down, outfight them and out-believe them and out-populate them and, in the end, take them over.

I understand that you believe that rockets and mortars from the north, south, east, and, eventually, west, can depopulate and peel back and obliterate the borders of pre-1967 Israel until there will be no need to agree to a Jewish state on those borders, no need to compromise on refugees, Jerusalem, settlements, no need to talk, no need for self-scrutiny and reconsideration, no need to bend.

I understand that you believe that this is your right, religiously, morally, politically. I understand why you believe that you can wait.

But this month, three generations since 1948, since your Nakba, this is what I ask you to consider:

Your time is running out.

If you do not begin to act with all of your wisdom in moving toward statehood, you run the risk of becoming the Kurds of the Mediterranean basin, the Native Americans of the Middle East, permanently stateless, eternally denied.

If you do not begin to rethink the course which the Palestinian national movement has taken, you must begin to consider the idea of a world without a Palestine. The world is beginning to feel more and more comfortable with that possibility, and it is time for you to think hard about the reasons why.

We in the post-modern West have spent years educating ourselves to believe that all cultures are equally valid - with the possible exception, of course, of our own. We have taken it on faith that to criticize the culture of an indigenous people is obscenely imperialist, paternalist.

In short, we gave you a pass. And we encouraged you to give yourselves one. In respecting you for your steadfastness, we refrained from calling you on your passivity. In accepting and amplifying your contentions as to Israel's acts of wrongdoing, we chose not to hold you accountable for your own, or to explain them away as a function of occupation,

You learned, over time, to hold Israel responsible for the whole of your plight. You learned, over time, to ignore, explain away, blame entirely on Israel, or otherwise deny the ways in which your actions and, in particular, your passivity, have deepened and fostered your misery. You learned to excuse your leaders their corruption, and their policy of foiling Israeli and foreign attempts to improve your conditions. You learned to excuse your Arab brothers their duplicity and their lip service and their exploitation and their cold shoulder and their contempt and their consummate failure to come to your aid.

In the process, you may have grown accustomed to a definition of time, and of indigenous peoples, that bears re-examination. There is, first of all, this:

The Jews are an indigenous people here, no less than you.

The Jews have every right to have a nation here, no less than you.

The Jews are stubborn and proud and fundamentally fierce as hell, no less than you.

You have dismissed the Jews as a foreign influence. You have dismissed their history, waved away their blood and sinew tie to Jerusalem, acted as though they have no business here but evil.

But in the decades you have spent misleading yourself about the true nature of the culture and the origins of the Jews, generation upon generation of Jews has been born here. They are natives. They are not going anywhere. And even the leftists among them are willing to die in defense of staying on this soil.

Worse, perhaps, is the way in which you took deadly aim at the concept of land for peace, and destroyed it, perhaps for all time. Your artful justifications of using Gaza settlement ruins for Qassam launchers wash with no one. You have justified every last claim and prediction of the Israeli right. You have lost immeasurable international support. You are looked upon abroad as Polarized to the heart, paralyzed by internal strife, and unable to arrive at, abide by, or implement decisions.

Your unfortunate ally Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, rising to your defense, marked the anniversary by telling you that Israel "has reached the end like a dead rat after being slapped by the Lebanese" and tha "Those who think they can revive the stinking corpse of the usurping and fake Israeli regime by throwing a birthday party are seriously mistaken."

Your unfortunate ally Osama Bin Laden told you last week that Israel's 60th anniversary was "evidence that Palestine is our land, and the Israelis are invaders and occupiers who should be fought."

"We will continue, God permitting, the fight against the Israelis and their allies ... and will not give up a single inch of Palestine as long as there is one true Muslim on earth."

What your unfortunate allies are saying is that it is more important to eliminate the Jewish state than it is to create a Palestinian one.

For this entire decade, the Palestinian national movement has acted accordingly. At the same time, it has effectively done the bidding of the Israeli right, doing everything in its power to raise the status of the settlers from an unruly, unfocused, marginalized, declining entity to that of a prophetic force.

Thanks in no small part to you, the settlement movement is flourishing as never before, confident that your rockets and your rhetoric will see to it that, as the years and generations pass, the settlers will come to be seen as, yes, indigenous.

The settlers will never be able to repay their debt to you.

You may have noted that in the wake of the second intifada, hundreds of suicide bombings in Israel's main cities, and thousands of Qassams, mortar shells and Katyushas, the Israeli left is furious with you, the Israeli center wants never to hear from you again, and only the Israeli right is delighted with the decisions you have made and the actions you have undertaken.

You made conclude from this that the left were untrustworthy to begin with and all Israelis are the same.

Or you might think twice.

True, Israel was once isolated, stigmatized, universally condemned, boycotted. But your actions, and those of Bin Laden and Iran, have effectively welcomed Israel into the good graces of a range of countries which have begun to think twice about you. And have ceased to care about you. No country in the world - Israel included - has cried wolf more often in the past than you have. Now, when your distress is truly worse than ever, the cry has fallen on deaf - or hostile - ears.

We in the media coddled you, supported you, cast you as the noble underdog. In response, you decided that the Jews control the media, take Israel's side, slander the cause of Palestine.

Look again.

Your celebration of terror has alienated many of your closest friends.

You did this. You. No one else. You have convinced exactly those Israelis who were willing to trade the West Bank for peace, that this would be a literally fatal error.

Last month, as if to remove the remainder of doubt, the veteran Palestinian Authority Representative in Lebanon, Fatah Central Committee member Abbas Zaki, told a Lebanese television station, "Let me tell you, when the ideology of Israel collapses, and we take, at least, Jerusalem, the Israeli ideology will collapse in its entirety, and we will begin to progress with our own ideology, Allah willing, and drive them out of all of Palestine."

You owe your children more than this. You owe your children more than pipedreams, nightmares, threats and delusions. You owe them more than victim status. You owe your children, and theirs, more than a culture of failure and passivity and graft and violence and loss. You owe your children and theirs - and ours - an honest search for peace.

Or would you rather that I simply shut up? Just the rantings of another untrustworthy Jew? Still want to believe you did everything right? Still want to believe that your few friend remaining in the Western left are more than just powerless cranks? Still want to believe that if you hold out long enough, everything will come your way?

As you wish.

I invite you to compare notes with the Native American.

More Head In The Sand Idiocy From Canada.

Here are the pull quotes.

"The United Nations has been arguing for 10 years about a definition of terrorism," he said.

"It simply can't agree because of the old cliche that one man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.

"And many G77 countries, developing world countries, argue that resistance against occupation should not be counted as terrorism. Western countries say that it should."

Those statements just scream Palistinans killing Israelis. Why the U.N. building should be bull dozed in ocean. They forgot on reason regarding why terrorism has declined, assuming thats true. Our brave boys in the military are killing them every chance they get, God bless them. Here is the story from www.abc.net.au

A new Canadian study has found there's been a sharp decline in the number of people killed by terrorists around the world.

Researchers from the Simon Fraser University in Vancouver have just released a Human Security Brief.

They've looked at three sets of data collected in the United Sates on domestic and international terrorism and they've found there's been a drop in the number of civilian fatalities from terrorist attacks.

Andrew Mack, director of the Human Security Report project, says the decline is around 40 per cent, based on a review of the three major data sets in the United States.

Mr Mack says that decline is since 2001 and doesn't include deaths in Iraq.

"Two of these data sets that go back to 1998 aren't really counting consistently because if they're counting civilian fatalities in Iraq, of which there are thousands, they should also be counting civilian fatalities in Africa's civil wars, and they're simply not doing this," he said.

But even counting civilian fatalities in Iraq, Mr Mack says there has still been a decline.

"But the decline now doesn't start until 2007," he said.

"And what happens in 2007 is that just as Iraq was driving casualties up until that point, in 2007 civilian casualties overall declined radically in Iraq, and civilian casualties from terrorism as defined by these data sets also declined by about 40 per cent."

That decline, according to the researchers, has coincided with a sharp drop in support for terrorist groups in the Muslim world.

"If terrorist organisations don't have popular support they can't have a popular revolution," he said.

"If they don't have conventional military capability, they can't defeat governments by force.

"So essentially what we can say is that these Al Qaeda-type organisations, because they've lost so much public support, do not pose a threat to states; they're certainly not a threat, there's not a civilisational struggle going on here.

"They are obviously a threat to individuals, but that threat to individuals is relatively small compared to the threats that we get from wars or homicides or even traffic accidents."

Mr Mack says the figures on fatalities do depend on how terrorism is defined.

SCARY. "Explosives detected at Swedish nuclear plant"

From /www.radionetherlands.nl

Published: Wednesday 21 May 2008 14:18 UTC
Last updated: Wednesday 21 May 2008 15:38 UTC
Police in southern Sweden have arrested two men suspected of attempting to sabotage the nuclear power plant at Oskarshamn. The arrests were made after traces of the high explosive TATP were found on a bag belonging to a welder entering the plant. TATP, which is relatively easy to make, was used by the British 'shoe bomber' Richard Reid when he planned to blow up an aeroplane in 2001, and by the London bombers in July 2005. Although an office building on the plant's property was evacuated, the nuclear installation itself was not shut down.

The Oskarshamn plant is one of Sweden's 10 nuclear power plants. Its three reactors provide approximately 10 percent of the country's energy.

This Gives Paranoia A Whole New Meaning.

"Burma fearful of oil grab by US aid."

Man what kind of tin foil hate brigade  is running that place. I haves only seen paranoia that bad in the Democratic congress.

HOPES that UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon could today broker a deal to get aid flowing into cyclone-hit Burma looked grim last night, after the junta cited fears of an American invasion when it yesterday blocked US naval ships and helicopters from delivering supplies.

On the eve of Mr Ban's visit to Burma, the New Light of Myanmar, a mouthpiece for the ruling junta, said US naval ships and helicopters poised offshore would not be allowed to deliver aid to cyclone victims - citing fears of a US invasion aimed at grabbing the country's oil reserves.

Bad T-shirt Slogan Of The Week.

Yea, quote Hitler good idea. From the www.thelocal.de

Firefighters feel the heat for Hitler Youth t-shirt slogan

Published: 20 May 08 17:34 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.de/11991/

Volunteer firefighters from the eastern German city of Cottbus issued an apology this week for using Adolf Hitler's famous exhortation to Nazi youth as a t-shirt slogan.

The eight young men wore polo shirts emblazoned with Hitler's call to German youth to be "fast as greyhounds, tough as leather, hard as Krupp steel" in a firefighting contest in the neighboring city of Lübbenau on Saturday - but said they had no idea who they were quoting.

"The slogan on the t-shirts was simply supposed to show the sporting character of the contest participants," the firefighters said in an apology issued on Monday. "We were not aware of the explosive nature of the slogan!"

The young men, part of a fire brigade from the Gross Gaglow district of Cottbus, said they had turned in the t-shirts to authorities.

The contest in Lübbenau was not the first time the firefighters wore the shirts, Lübbenau spokesman Hans-Joachim Schiemenz told The Local. Schiemenz said he was amazed that no one had pointed out the origin of the quote earlier.

"I know the history. I was born in 1950. My father was in the war and set great stock in explaining the background of all this to me," Schiemenz said.

Schiemenz said the Gross Gaglow team wore the shirts throughout the competition before organizers realized what the shirts said and approached the men about the slogan.

Authorities called the incident a sign of a lack of proper education. Informal street polling by local newspaper
Lausitzer Rundschau found that most of the parents on an elementary school playground in the city didn't know the origin of the saying either.

"Witty quote," one 39-year-old mother told the newspaper, adding that she thought it fit young firemen.

All volunteer firemen in Cottbus will be required to take history lessons as part of their training starting in June, Lothar Nicht, head of the office of public order in Cottbus, told the newspaper.

The neo-Nazi NPD party has won seats in several state parliaments in the former East Germany in recent years and its supporters have grown increasing influential in small-town municipal institutions.

The obvious consequence of the Iranian nuclear program.

Apparently Iran's neighbors don't believe the Iranian nuclear program is for non-military purposes either.

Web posted at: 5/21/2008 1:35:15
Source ::: REUTERS

london • Growing interest in atomic power among Iran's neighbours could spiral into a nuclear arms race in the volatile Middle East unless preventive measures are taken, a leading think-tank said yesteday.

In a report, the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies said Iran's nuclear programme had prompted other states in the oil-rich region to consider acquiring nuclear technology.

"In the span of 11 months between February 2006 and January 2007, at least 13 countries in the Middle East announced new or revived plans to pursue or explore civilian nuclear energy," said the report, entitled "Nuclear Programmes in the Middle East In the Shadow of Iran".

"This upsurge of interest is remarkable given both the abundance of traditional energy sources in the region and the low standing to date of nuclear energy there."

Iran's plans to open a Russian-built nuclear power station at Bushehr would make it the first country in the region to develop nuclear power. Although Tehran says its programme is for peaceful power generation, Western powers and Middle East states say they fear Iran is trying to make a nuclear bomb.

The IISS report also looked at Israel's nuclear programme, concluding that the Jewish state possesses nuclear weapons despite its refusal to confirm this publicly, and would be unlikely to give them up to secure a nuclear-free Middle East.

Iran's plans should soon make it "the exception to the rule whereby the Middle East is the only region in the world without nuclear power", the report said. "If the recent aspirations of Iran's neighbours are ever realised, this exception would become the rule".

It said the United Arab Emirates is likely to become the next country in the region after Iran with nuclear power.

Signatories to the global nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) are allowed to pursue nuclear power but must agree to controls to prevent them from building atomic weapons.

The report said nuclear power programmes in the Middle East could make it easier for countries to develop weapons programmes if the NPT breaks down.

Unlike other Middle Eastern countries, Israel has not signed the NPT. The report concluded that Israel has had atomic weapons for decades despite its official policy of "nuclear ambiguity".

"As Iran reaches one technological milestone after another in its journey towards acquiring a nuclear-weapons capability, Israel will face a sequence of dilemmas and be forced to make a series of fateful decisions as to whether and how it can live with this eventuality," it said.

Pakistan goverment reaches deal with Taliban militants

Agencies
Published: May 21, 2008, 18:55

Peshawar: Pakistan's government reached an agreement with Taliban militants in the country’s northwest on Wednesday, promising to “gradually” pull out troops from the region.

The deal came one day after the United States warned Pakistan against negotiating with the militants, saying it may give way for plots against Pakistan or abroad.

Authorities in North West Frontier Province also agreed to enforce sharia in Swat.

In return the militants led by charismatic cleric Fazlullah agreed to cease attacks, allow girls to go to school and stop carrying weapons in public.

The militants also agreed to stop operating illegal radio stations without permission from authorities, while the government also agreed to review the criminal cases filed against Fazlullah and other militants.

Officials said they hoped this new deal will restore peace in Swat.

The militants have said they are fully satisfied with the agreement.

Kenya mob burns 11 "witches" to death

NAIROBI (Agencies)

A mob tied up at least 11 people accused of witchcraft and burnt them to death in a remote village in western Kenya, police said Wednesday.

Police were on patrol in the village of Nyakeo to prevent revenge attacks after eight women and three men, 10 of them aged between 70 and 90, were lynched and burnt to death on Tuesday, spokesman Charles Owino said.

"Their houses were torched. Eight women and three men suspected of being witches died," Kenya's deputy police spokesman Charles Owino said.

Kisii district residents confirmed the killings, saying an enraged crowd had gone house-to-house on Tuesday night, using a list of supposed witches in the region.

About 30 houses were torched.

Police chief Kibuchi said the villagers had recounted holding a meeting in Nyakeo earlier on Tuesday to try and dissuade those who wanted to go ahead with the killing.

Five of the victims had supposedly "confessed" at this meeting to practicing witchcraft and had begged for mercy, he said.

Traditional African beliefs, Christianity and Islam co-exist peacefully in Kenya. But there is widespread suspicion of sorcery, particularly in west Kenya, which has a long tradition of witch doctors and faith healers.

In 1993, eight elderly people from Kisii were also accused of witchcraft and burned to death in their huts by a mob.

Several cases have also been reported in recent months in neighboring Tanzania, forcing President Jakaya Kikwete to order special protection for albinos, who were murdered and mutilated for good luck by witch-doctors.

Useful Idiots Even In The Israeli Army.

isralis useful idion
Hello, my name is Yehuda Shaul and I am a tool of the Palestinian Terrorists.

Why no mention of who started this. Why no mention of nearly unending rocket attacks on Israel. Why no mention of the "process of moral corruption" that lead the radicals in the west bank to do everything they can to bring about the elimination of all Jews in Israel. Idiot!!!! Actually he would make a good Democratic candidate for congress.

It's one of the most remarkable tours you can go on while in Jerusalem. The guides are former soldiers who take you to the places where they served during their tour of duty in the occupied West Bank. The veterans tell about the "process of moral corruption" which soldiers undergo; in other words "losing the sense of right and wrong". The former soldiers say the tour breaks one of the biggest taboos in Israeli society.

"Good morning, welcome to the Breaking the Silence Tour,"

one of the former soldiers says through the microphone at the start of the bus ride. Several times a week, Yehuda Shaul (25) and his former army buddies provide a tour for a busload of people to Hebron, where they served.

Military procedure
While walking the streets of the Palestinian town they give a candid picture of how they were when they were eighteen. They were youths with "good moral values" who enthusiastically joined the army. They were then stationed in Hebron. There they turned into soldiers who "did not consider Palestinians as equals on a human level".

Shaul takes a break to speak with soldiers who are serving in his former battalion. They refuse to comment but look somewhat uncomfortable when Shaul explains to the group in the bus what the procedure is if they see a plastic bag on the side of the road. The plastic bag could contain a bomb. Army procedures provide three options:

  1. You shoot at it.
  2. You wait until demolition experts deactivate the bomb.
  3. You send a Palestinian.

"What do you think we did?",

Shaul asks the group.

"Option number 3, of course."

He explains why this was a logical choice from a military perspective. If Palestinians know they can be used as human shields they will forget about placing bombs on the side of the road. But it also means that as a soldier you can't afford to consider Palestinians as human beings.

"If they are equals you also don't shoot bullets through their roofs in the middle of the night, waking up the entire family."

One of the biggest taboos
Shaul says the army's behaviour in the occupied territories is "one of the biggest taboos in Israeli society". He points out that although the occupied West Bank is only a few minutes drive from Jerusalem many people do not consider it a worthy topic of conversation. That's despite the fact that a large number of Israeli soldiers are stationed in the West Bank or in military outposts near the Gaza Strip.

When Shaul returned to civilian life he realised that he'd fallen prey to a "process of moral corruption". Together with other soldiers from his battalion he founded the organisation Breaking the Silence. Shaul says it caused shockwaves in Israeli society.

Last year, Breaking the Silence brought 3,000 people to Hebron, including many youngsters under the age of 18 who must still do their compulsory military service. Shaul tries to explain to them that as a soldier you irrevocably change your manner of thinking.

"When you are a soldier in the military your mindset is very narrow. You don't talk at the end of your shift about what you did to the Palestinians, and you don't question things. You ask: How can I get more sleep? How can I get better food? These are the only things you care about."

Volley of curses
Shaul and his colleagues get a lot of support, but also meet a lot of hostility. Especially from the settlers who live in the centre of the Palestinian town of Hebron. The principle reason the Israeli army is stationed in Hebron is to protect the colonists. During our tour a settler photographed everyone in an intimidating manner. Another angrily got out of his car and began  firing a volley of curses at Shaul for, among other things, collaborating with the enemy (the Palestinians). Shaul stayed calm.

"This time I at least didn't get any eggs or bricks thrown at my head."

A few weeks ago he showed a group of German parliamentarians around. They were pelted with stones.

Despite the attacks by settlers he has no doubts about his mission. He wants to force Israeli society to look in the mirror.

"Breaking the Silence asks people to take responsibility not only for Israeli society but also for what is going on in the occupied territories. It's our obligation as people who were there to educate people and to force a debate in Israel regarding what is going on in the occupied territories. If we won't do it, no one else will."'

Osnabrück to host dialogue with Muslims: report

The Key paragraph.

A small city in the German state of Lower Saxony where Christians negotiated to end a religious war in the 1600s should be a centre for Christian-Islamic dialogue today, the state premier told a newspaper on Tuesday.

I am perfectly willing to negotiate the unconditional surrender of all radical Islalmist. After that the we can talk about.

“Peace between religions and the orderly relationship between the state and religion is one of the key questions of the 21st century,”

If that first condition is met fine. If not go blow it our your ear. It just a ploy to hold us off the fight against radical Islam, while the Jihad to over throw the world marches forward.

A small city in the German state of Lower Saxony where Christians negotiated to end a religious war in the 1600s should be a centre for Christian-Islamic dialogue today, the state premier told a newspaper on Tuesday.

Premier Christian Wulff said the state should sponsor conferences, academic seminars and training for German-speaking imams in Osnabrück, known as the City of Peace.

“Peace between religions and the orderly relationship between the state and religion is one of the key questions of the 21st century,” Wulff, a Christian Democrat, told the newspaper Neue Osnabrücker Zeitung.

Wulff said he and the former mayor of Osnabrück, Hans-Jürgen Fip, a Social Democrat, had already discussed the project. Fip helped bring the German Foundation of Peace Research to Osnabrück.

In 1648, Osnabrück was one of the cities where the end to the 30 Years’ War – a conflict that started as a fight between Protestants and Catholics – was negotiated.

Wulff said the city helped develop a rubric for religious peace – and a new way of thinking about the relationship between church and state – that could be useful today.

He said Lower Saxony should soon sign a treaty with Muslims similar to similar to treaties signed with the federal state’s Protestants in 1955 and with its Catholics in 1965.
