What President Obama's Inauguration Speech Will Look Like.

We will have all entered a place called the Zwilight Zone.

eye of the beholder

The Speeh will go something like this.

LEADER'S VOICE
Good evening, ladies and gentlemen. Tonight I shall talk to you about glorious conformity... about the delight and the ultimate pleasure of our unified society... you recall, of course, that directionless, unproductive, over-sentimentalized era of man's history when it was assumed that dissent was some kind of natural and healthy adjunct to society. We also recall that during this period of time there was a strange over-sentimentalized concept that it mattered not that people were different, that ideas were at variance with one another, that a world could exist in some kind of crazy, patch-work kind of make up, with foreign elements glued together in a crazy quilt. We realize, of course, now that I say to you now... I say to you now that there is no such thing as a permissive society, because such a society cannot exist! They will scream at you and rant and rave and conjure up some dead and decadent picture of an ancient time when they said that all men are created equal! But to them equality was an equality of opportunity, an equality of status, an equality of aspiration! And then in what surely must be the pinnacle of insanity; the absolute in inconsistency, they would have had us believe that this equality did not apply to form, to color, to creed. They permitted a polyglot, accident-bred, mongol-like mass of diversification to blanket the earth, to infiltrate and weaken! Well we know now that there must be a single purpose! A single norm! A single approach! A single entity of peoples! A single virtue! A single morality! A single frame of reference! A single philosophy of government!
We cannot permit... we must not permit the encroaching sentimentality of a past age to weaken our resolve. We must cut out all that is different like a cancerous growth!

And From The Submit Or Die Front We Have This: "Iraqi bishop warns of effort to empty Middle East of Christians"

www.catholicnewsagency.com

Rome, Jun 25, 2008 / 07:41 pm (CNA).- Auxiliary Bishop Shlemon Warduni of Baghdad warned this week that there is an effort underway “to rid the Middle East of Christians.” According to the bishop, “The war has destroyed everything and even the tradition of coexistence.  One-third of Christians have fled the country because of threats, abuse and violence.”

The Italian news agency SIR is reporting that the bishop made his comments in an address to the scientific committee of the Oasis International Study and Research Center, which is meeting in Amman, Jordan, to discuss the situation in Iraq.  Bishop Shlemon also mentioned the “kidnapping of men of the Church, like the 16 priests that were kidnapped, some of which were killed, like Archbishop Faraj Rahho of Mosul.”

Despite all this, he continued, “God is the source of freedom and truth, and bearing witness to Christ does not mean being a fanatic.  Our churches have taken in many during the war, with no distinction of ethnicity or faith. The same is true of our schools and ecclesial institutions.  And this allows us to get know our Muslim friends,” he said.

However, the bishop continued, we should not forget that “our young people have no hope, they are not accepted. A fleeing Iraqi is taboo. The situation right now is unbearable as well because of the difficulties of daily life: little water, electricity and high prices.  Ironically we have all this oil but we are poor.”

Bishop Warduni encouraged the continuation of dialogue with Muslims and noted, “There are common beliefs that can serve as starting points: prayer, fasting, eternal life, but we should not ignore the differences,” he said.

"MANY ITALIANS UNAWARE OF WARS AND NATURAL DISASTERS"

They need to lay off the Vino, if you know what I mean.

www.lifeinitaly.com
ANSA) - Rome, July 1 - One out of five Italians cannot
name an armed conflict which has taken place in the past five
years and an even higher percentage do not remember any major
natural disaster, according to a poll published by the
Catholic weekly Famiglia Cristiana.
The poll, taken by the SWG group, was part of a report
on forgotten conflicts which the magazine compiled along with
the Catholic charity group Caritas.
Commenting on the fact that 20% of Italians cannot name
a recent conflict, Famiglia Cristiana wrote ''not even one!
Not Iraq, nor Afghanistan, not even the Middle East. This
percentage is even higher than a similar poll in 2004''.
Ignorance about current armed conflicts was even higher
among young people, 30%, despite an increase from 6% to 16%
in four years among those who claim to follow events on the
Internet.
And an even higher percentage of young people could not
remember any major natural disaster.
According to the SWG poll, 33% of Italians recall the
2004 tsunami, but most because of the number of Westerners
involved instead of the over 200,000 people who lost their
lives.
Only 23% of Italians knew about the recent earthquake in
China and even fewer recalled the Nargis cyclone which
devastated Myanmar.
''There is a lot of confusion and many people have
difficulties identifying on a map where these events take
place. Myanmar, for example, was mistaken for Tibet,''
Famiglia Cristiana reported.
According to the magazine, less than half of Italians,
but more than 50% of practicing Catholics, were aware that
the revolt in Tibet and the cyclone in Myanmar were in the
international spotlight this past year.
In regard to armed conflicts, 65% of Italians knew about
Iraq, mostly because of Italy's participation in the mission,
while only 9% knew about the drama in Somalia, Famiglia
Cristiana said.

"O’boy: airport ‘bomb’ was chocolate milk mix"

Sound like someone is probing airport security again.

Published: 2 Jul 08 16:49 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.se/12792/

The suspected bomb which resulted in large sections of Stockholm’s Arlanda airport being blocked off Wednesday turned out to be a package of O’boy chocolate milk mix wrapped in duct tape.

“The bomb technicians shot it up and it contained O’boy,” said Arlanda police commander Jan Sommar to the TT news agency.

O’boy is a popular chocolate drink mix sold in Sweden and other Nordic countries.

Police and bomb technicians were called to Arlanda’s terminal 5, the international terminal, around 9:30am Wednesday after a suspicious object had been discovered near the special baggage check in counter.

A large portion of the terminal was blocked off for several hours, although passenger disruption was minimal.

The incident isn't the first major bomb-scare blunder in Sweden in recent months.

In January, a concerned janitor called police when he noticed a small parcel moving about in an unusual manner. The bomb squad later discovered that the suspicious device was a vibrating sex toy.

And in late May, a can of shaving cream carried by a contractor worker caused a false alarm at the Oskarshamn nuclear plant. Two men were arrested in the case, as officials feared the men were involved in a plot to sabotage the plant.

Both men were released and no charges were filed.

Beirut Fast Food.

bullet burger

Yes this was a good idea.

"Buns and Guns" slogan is a sandwich can kill you
Lebanon restaurant makes meal out of war

BEIRUT (Reuters)

At "Buns and Guns" you can order a "Kalashnikov" sandwich from a bullet-shaped menu, prepared by chefs in military fatigues with the roar of explosions as background music.

This new fast food restaurant in Beirut's southern suburbs, where the Hezbollah movement holds sway, was the brainchild of co-owner Ali Hammoud. He said the war theme was a novel concept that had nothing to do with Lebanon's bloody recent history.

#"It's just an idea I had, nothing more, nothing less. I could have put toys in place of the sandbags and teddy bears instead of guns. But it was just an idea," Hammoud told Reuters.

"You could say that the situation in the country made people pay attention," added Hammoud, sitting outside his restaurant, which has become popular with teenagers.

Guns, bullets and pictures of other weapons decorate the interior. The slogan "A sandwich can kill you," with a picture of a gun superimposed on a burger, is displayed outside.

Shocker: Majority Of The World Still Hates Jews.

There is no other way to read this poll. The people in the majority just want to turn their backs until the problem is solved. And we all know what that solution is. The Final One. I stand with Israel and against the Palestinian terrorist who want them to be eliminate. The rest of you can go pound sand, or build ovens. From www.alarabiya.net

13 of 15 countries say Israel not playing a positive role
Don't take sides in Israel-Palestine conflict: poll

WASHINGTON (Courtney C. Radsch, Alarabiya.net)

The first global public opinion poll about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict released Tuesday found that majorities in 14 out of 18 countries polled believe their government should not take sides in the decades-old Middle East conflict.

It also revealed that most people support a greater role for the United Nations, from guaranteeing security of the countries involved to sending peacekeepers to enforce an eventual peace agreement.

According to the poll – which was conducted by WorldPublicOpinion.org and covered 18,792 people in 18 countries and the Palestinian Territories – 58 percent of respondents said they did not believe their country should take a side in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Twenty percent said their country should support the Palestinians, while only seven percent supported the Israelis. Egypt, Iran and Turkey were the only countries favoring the Palestinians.

American view

Even Americans overwhelmingly said their government should not take sides.

In a finding that goes against the common assumption that Americans overwhelmingly support Israel, seven out of ten Americans said they thought their country should not take sides in the conflict. Of the rest, 21 percent said it should take Israel's side compared to only 3 percent who supported taking the Palestinians side.

“Israel is liked a lot more and if you force them (Americans) to choose, Israel gets more sympathy,” Steven Kull, director of WorldOpinion.org, told AlArabiya.net in an interview.

“You ask them which side they blame more, and more blame Israel than the Palestinians, but if you look more closely there are huge numbers that refuse to answer or say they don’t know.”

Americans, said Mr. Kull, are unequivocal that U.S. policy needs to be even handed in dealing with the situation. “There is a discrepancy in this sense between the public and government foreign policy,” he added.

At 86 percent, Egypt was the only country to overwhelmingly support taking the Palestinian side and to say that Palestinians are doing their part to resolve the conflict. A similarly large percentage said neither Israel (88%) nor the U.S. (86%) is doing their part well.

Country assessments

Israel received the worst ratings about whether it is playing a positive role in the conflict, with majorities in thirteen out of fifteen countries asked this question saying that the Israelis are “not doing very well” or “not doing well at all.”

Arab countries and the United States did not fare much better.

Fifty-nine percent of those polled view America’s role in the conflict negatively, as do 46 percent of Americans themselves. A majority, 54 percent, of those polled also said that Israel is not playing a positive role while 47 percent say the same for the Palestinians.

The United Nations Security Council, however, fared far better in terms of people’s perceptions about the role it should and could play. Respondents said they believed the United Nations should play a greater role in the conflict, especially if an agreement is eventually reached.

All but one of the 17 countries asked had majorities or pluralities that supported sending U.N. peacekeepers were an agreement reached, with an average of 67 percent favoring and 20 percent opposing such an idea.

The predominantly Muslim countries of Egypt, Turkey, Indonesia and the Palestinian territories in particular supported U.N. involvement, from protecting Arab countries in case of an Israeli attack to sending peacekeepers.
